We have now coordinated the delivery of 7,280 gallons of biodiesel blends (B99 and B20) from SunPower to our members in 2015.
This continues the trend of strong interest by area farmers in receiving bulk delivery of biodiesel now that it is accessible at an economical price.
Contact us for the current delivered price for B20 and B99.
As our educational event and annual meeting in March, there were concerns about SunPower’s ability to weather a perfect storm of negative economic conditions. Over 25 people attended our March meeting, and much was learned about the economics of biodiesel, as well as its benefits for all diesel engines.
However, SunPower is back on its feet, and more committed to our Southwest Wisconsin area than ever before. They have moved their 9,000 gallon mobile tank to our area, and local deliveries from there to our members are starting in the coming week.
So far in 2015 Bring It Home Biofuels has coordinated the bulk delivery of over 5,100 gallons of biodiesel to members. With more in the pipeline awaiting local deliveries to begin.
SunPower is also taking steps to set up a Viroqua based biodiesel fueling site accessible to our members. We hope to have news soon – stay tuned.
Finally, we have begun to explore starting a local pilot for biodiesel production. This would be a important step toward true fuel self-reliance in our agricultural community.
We’re set for our annual educational event: Saturday, March 7, from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm at The ARK in Viroqua. Here is our event flyer. Feel free to print it and post in your community.
The keynote presentation will be made by SunPower Biodiesel: our Wisconsin supplier of ASTM certified biodiesel, on their practical experience producing and distributing biodiesel.
There will be a panel discussion on topics of local interest:
La Crosse Diesel—a mechanic’s view of biodiesel use in trucks and cars
On Farm Use — a farmer member’s story
Driving Clean with biodiesel – using biodiesel in cars
a Viroqua resident on using biodiesel for home heating
There will be plenty of time for open discussion.
The event is free and open to the public, with a complimentary light dinner to follow.
401 E Jefferson St. Viroqua WI 54665
The final totals are in, and Bring It Home Biofuels coordinated the bulk delivery of 13,450 gallons of biodiesel to area farms, maple syrup operations and residences for home heating use in 2014. That is more than 6 times the 2013 level.
The Organic Valley Chaseburg fuel pump is now operational, and carries a B5 blend that is available to our members at a $.05 per gallon discount. In addition to the Chaseburg area, the fuel pump makes biodiesel easily accessible to folks who live and work in the southern part of the La Crosse. The La Farge biodiesel fuel site continues to offer B20 during the cold months, and B99 during the warm weather.
We are working with SunPower, the Wisconsin producer of our high quality fuel, to make biodiesel available to our members in the Viroqua area this spring. We’ll keep you posted!
Our Annual event has been set for March 7. We’ll provide an update soon with the details on location, time and the agenda. The annual membership meeting is scheduled for March 21. Again, details to follow.
Bulk deliveries from SunPower to our members passed 13,000 gallons in October. That is more than 6 times our total coordinated deliveries for 2013, with more to come in the first half of November.
The construction of the Organic Valley biodiesel fuel pump in Chaseburg is near completion and will be available to our members at a discounted price. We will announce the start up date soon.
We continue to work with a local partner to make biodiesel available to our members in Viroqua. We remain hopeful that this milestone will still come to pass this fall. We’ll keep you posted!
Bulk deliveries from SunPower to our members passed 10,000 gallons this week. That is 5 times our total coordinated deliveries for 2013, with heavy usage of farm equipment still ahead for the upcoming harvest season.
The construction of the Organic Valley biodiesel fuel pump in Chaseburg is underway and planned for completion this fall. Bring It Home Biofuel members will have access to that fueling station.
We are also actively collaborating with a local partner to make biodiesel available to our members in Viroqua. More on that in future posts.
As of May 27, we have coordinated delivery of 7,400 gallons of biodiesel from Sunpower to eight of our members in 2014. This is a substantial increase over 2013, and we are still early in the B99 season.
Of that total, 1,300 gallons have been B99, and 6,200 gallons have been B20. Sunpower is now delivering B99 to the Organic Valley fuel pump in La Farge, but they have separate containers on their truck which support a combination of B99 and B20 bulk orders.
The most recent delivery was on May 15. At that time the delivered price was $3.429 per gallon for off-road B99 and $3.869 per gallon for on-road B20.
